Stephen Moore’s music is “catchy, jangly, acoustic-based pop” (Mike Breen, CityBeat) and has been called “soulful, shimmering, slow-burning acoustic rock” (Mike Breen, Midpoint Music Festival Guide). The Cincinnati based musician began writing songs as a teenager while sitting on the edge of his bed in Storrs, Connecticut. He says that his mother introduced him to a wide variety of songs from an early age, playing everything from Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Teddy Pendergrass, and Earth Wind & Fire to Chopin.
When Stephen was 16, he and his family moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he continued his musical education, wrote songs and discovered what it meant when people talked about song structure. He continued to play and write, went to college, was in a few short-lived bands and eventually moved to Cincinnati. Now he can often be found playing at local bars and coffee houses.
District A is thrilled that Stephen will be a part of our inaugural Street Festival. In fact, we’re sure our audience will agree with Mackenzie McAninch of Randomville Music who said Stephen plays “songs that could easily be background music during a break-up scene in an indie film… Moore would most certainly appeal to about any freshman college girl.” We’re sure he’ll appeal to our guests as well! |
